Assistant Resort manager

AliKats is a small independent chalet company based in Morzine, run by Al & Kat Judge. We started with one chalet in 2011 and currently have 4 catered and 6 self-catered chalets.

We invest a lot of time and effort in training at the start of each season to create a well-bonded and high functioning team and also provide extensive ongoing support throughout the season. We believe that if our team is happy, healthy and having fun that all of the other details will follow.
Objective of the role
We’re looking for a capable and energetic individual who has a talent for people management and also has a very good eye for detail. They will be responsible for helping the Resort Manager (Joe) and owners (Al and Kat) to manage the team and ensure that we are delivering an exceptional level of customer service to our discerning guests on a daily basis.
They will also be responsible for ensuring the chalets are kept spotlessly clean and in a good state of repair, well stocked and running efficiently. We provide all of the training and processes in order to achieve this but the day to day responsibility for carrying out spot checks, stock counts etc. lies with the Assistant Resort Manager.
The job will best suit someone who has a passion for hospitality, strong leadership skills, is organized and efficient, and has an ability to tackle problems as they arise in a calm and professional manner.
The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to
·       Helping to set the chalets up at the start of the season
·       Working with the Resort Manager to manage the chalet hosts, drivers and housekeeping team which involves providing initial training, regular feedback and support as needed.
·       Overseeing weekend changeovers in the chalets on a Saturday and Sunday plus mid-week changeovers as needed.
·       Carrying out regular spot-checks throughout the chalets to ensure all standards are maintained.
·       Maintaining stock levels of all housekeeping products.
·       Providing a concierge service for our self-catered guests and being on call to deal with any issues for 3 or 4 days out of 7.
·       Covering the hosts morning off in one chalet on a Thursday
·       Helping to tidy up afternoon tea in the chalets on host nights off
·       Providing support with guest slope runs on hosts/drivers days off.
·       Check-ins and check-outs for guests as needed.
·       Managing the chalet equipment such as cots and high chairs and ensuring it is in the right chalet at the right time.
·       Working with the drivers to keep all vehicles on the road and in a good condition and to manage the driver schedule accordingly. This involves taking vans for repairs, creating and updating a rota on a spreadsheet, communicating with all drivers.
·       Providing cover if we are short-staffed
·       Communicating any issues in a timely manner
·       Helping to clean down the chalets at the end of the season
This is a flexible position so responsibilities may vary through the course of the season as the need arises.
Skills & Experience
·       Previous chalet hosting or house keeping experience
·       Full driving license plus at least 3 years driving experience  (preferably including driving a van or minibus)
·       5 years professional experience minimum
·       Strong organizational and administrative skills
·       Excellent attention to detail
·       Strong problem solving skills
·       The ability to be self-starting and adaptable.
·       Good communication skills
·       An interest in caring for the environment and sustainable hospitality
·       Good level of spoken French
·       Previous management experience
·       Reasonable cooking ability
·       Basic DIY skills
·       Employment from early November to end of April 2022 (The finish date will be confirmed by 1st Feb 2022)
·       Competitive salary based on experience level. This is paid into a bank account of your choice on a monthly basis in arrears.

Your tasks & responsibilities will include (but are not limited to)

  • Setting the chalets up at the start of the season, cleaning them down at the end of the season and keeping them well maintained and clean in between.
  • Hosting guests and making sure they have everything they need at all times.
  • Driving guests to and from slopes and around resort in a company minibus.
  • Preparing & serving breakfast 6 days per week
  • Preparing afternoon tea, aperitifs and canapes 5 days per week.
  • Preparing & serving a gourmet 4 course dinner 5 nights per week. This is a collaborative effort with key elements of the meal being prepared in our centralised prep kitchen by 2 professional chefs.
  • Washing up after all meals.
  • Cleaning & room servicing to the highest of hygiene standards.
  • Miscellaneous things including, shopping, laundry, maintenance etc.
  • Adhering to a budget and managing stock levels of food, wine, cleaning products etc.
  • Adhering to all of the sustainability practices including recycling, composting and measuring and reducing waste.
  • Working as part of a team and treating co-workers with kindness and respect.

The package includes

  • Competitive wage of €1000 per person per month net.

It is essential that you have a good level of spoken English, a full manual driving license that allows you to drive in Europe and be over 21.

One of you needs to be a competent cook with a passion for food- professional cooking experience is not essential but would definitely be an advantage.
